On October 21, MGIMO completed the 12th round of the advanced training program “GR and lobbying in Business and Nonprofit Sector”, implemented by Baikal Communications Group in cooperation with the School of Business and International Proficiency. 

During the six-day program, the trainees studied the principles and functions of lobbying, its methods and ways, lobbying tools, GR-technologies for building communications between business and authorities on the example of companies from various sectors of the economy and NGOs. A special feature of the program of this stream was a workshop on the creation of a GR algorithm and a lobbying project and its implementation technology. Much attention was paid to the work of the Subcommittee of the Government Commission for the Control of Foreign Investment in the Russian Federation as well. According to the training program results, 32 participants received state standard certificates of advanced training.

The course program includes disciplines devoted to various aspects of GR and lobbying activities: significant attention is paid to building communication between business and public authorities in a crisis period, working with business and industry associations, expert and scientific organizations, state corporations and development institutions. An important section is devoted to the study of GR and lobbying tools, such as monitoring and analysis of the regulatory environment, legal expertise of draft laws and other regulatory acts, PR tools, event management, etc. Recently, disciplines dedicated to supra-professional competencies (soft skills) have appeared on the course.

Throughout the program, the speakers shared with the audience GR-experience from various sectors of the economy and NGOs: GR in the field of marketplaces, IT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, financial and banking sector, retail, shipbuilding, “green” and traditional energy, metallurgy, mining and others. During the classes, a lot of emphasis was placed on the algorithms of work and the structure of GR departments, taking into account the challenges of the present time.
