The Lake Baikal Foundation, established by the Baikal Communications Group, shared its experience in conducting charitable activities in the Baikal natural area at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The Foundation acted as co-organizer of the session on the third sector participation in solving environmental problems. The discussion «Baikal. Center of the environmental initiatives attraction» was held on May 24 at the NPO Laboratory. During the discussion, the Lake Baikal Foundation presented its practices, concrete results of activities in the field of science support, as well as formats for the possible participation of businesses in joint programs on environmental sustainability that meet the global goals of sustainable development of the United Nations.
The Lake Baikal Foundation for Environmental Applications and Research, founded by the company in 2016, within a short period of time launched a number of system projects to support research activities in the Baikal region, became a knowledge center on Lake Baikal and Baikal natural territory, and also won a presidential grant for the educational project implementation. The establishment of the Foundation became part of the development strategy of Baikal Communications Group, which offers a systematic approach to corporate social responsibility. Each client of the company contributes to the activities of the Foundation, as 10% of the company’s profits are transferred to its development. The Foundation also attracts private donors, has a network of pro bono partners and expands opportunities for corporate cooperation – all this points create a platform for the Foundation grant programs, which contribute to the protection of the Lake Baikal unique ecosystem.
